• Back then, there wasn't any social media platform for people to share their horror stories or bad experiences about being cheated, however many of these cheating cases do happen very frequently, just that not many people were aware.
• He wanted to be different, he wanted to be that honest and reliable contractor to change people perceptions. Back then, everything is very different that what we came to know today.
• There wasn't much licensing and safety regulations compare to today. Workers are mostly paid by cash, there wasn't even a proper invoice or quotations. Heck, he didn't even had a printer when he started.
• He continued running the sole prop business on and off, doing small scale for both residential projects and commercial projects while working a full time job.
• His commitment was to his family and his day job thus he didn't had many opportunity to expand or sustain the business.
• The traditional media to advertise was very costly and the options wasn't as plentiful thus he rely mostly on word of mouth for referrals business.

• In 2018, both his Son's decided to took over and incorporated the company. They diligently and properly set up the business entity to enable us to employ our own direct foreign workers and to tender for both private and government commercial projects.
• From then on, we have been actively involved in some residential projects but mainly commercial projects, gaining numerous support even without any form of advertisement.
• Covid19 made a big shift in our business direction, when all commercial projects were put to a halt, we had no choice but to venture into the residential projects, then we realized that many direct home owners are yearning for more transparency and assurance, there need to be a change from the traditional ways of renovating - we started the idea for consumers to go for direct contractors instead of going through an ID or middle-man.
• We disrupted the market by advocating our clients to go for direct contractors, gaining both positive and negative response. Many homeowners thanked us and many ID's were against us.
• To increase further assurance, we provided all our clients with an add-on public liability insurance covering all our projects for up to $1,000,000
• We've also obtain many credentials, certificates and were also awarded Singapore's Top 100 Entrepreneur Award 2022

Primarily set up up for full scale residential projects for HDB, condos and also landed, including 3D renderings and project managements. Providing ID services at contractor pricings.

Primarily focus on project management - we realized a huge demand coming from home owners planning to DIY their renovation projects thus S.M Renovation was created to act an independent company coordination company between home owners and their own choice of contractors.

Primarily focus on all types of masonry works - on top of providing turn-key renovation services, many owners also preferred to find specific individual trade contractors

Primarily focus on carpentry works with local Singaporean workforce - we cater to any carpentry projects no matter big or small projects
